Re: Running for office: and Green motoring

the next game changer re.solar in UK assuming FITs is clearly dead, yip it is dead, apart from ever increasing energy rates .... is kinda battery storage, but since you still need to pay increasing grid charges to get our winter energy, even that seems not worth it. (becoming even more energy effici...

Re: Running for office: and Green motoring

hmmmfff, Domestic grid tied Scottish Solar PV is now only for the greenest of us all, my blunt term is 'you've missed the (FITs) boat now'. If you now manage to get a 4kw system on your roof for near £5k you'll need to live and live under you roof for nearly 20 years to recover the capital outlay. y...

Re: Running for office: and Green motoring

dunno this yield factor, but do know last 7 years generation from a 4kWp system in glasgow average 3200 - 3300 kwh per annum scally's view point is that he puts the total kwh into the grid so he feels good about taking an equivalent amount out elsewhere, an invalid convenient simplification imho, ap...

Re: Running for office: and Green motoring

Am I green because I have solar panels & and EV ? Not really ...just in a supposed middle class position with a roof and money to take opportunity of previous generous gov FITs. I doubt I would do it now in Scotland without the FITs subsidy for various reasons, not enough steady sun at wrong tim...

Re: Running for office: and Green motoring

NET /export metering ..... here is some scottish charts from mine .... a fairly clear sunny April day overall generation 14.7 kwh, of this 8.4kwh was sold to the grid Look at just how jaggy the real generation is from our scottish sun making it very difficult to utilise all the solar generation your...

Re: Running for office: and Green motoring

hmmmmm, unless you have a german virtual electric contract, leave your car plugged in during every sunny day, don't drive in the winter (or hibernate) never avail yourself of a free scottish rapid charge or have an old reversing lecky meter, or a spare leaf battery hooked to your array they maybe we...

I just wish the might of Nissan could update their database of chargers to cover something a recent as this side of the ice age !

as for 285k maybe the background real-cost/waste of scot-Ent is more the point here
but small beer in the whole scope of things, I guess

Re: BBC Landward - EV users in Lothians/Borders & Fife

the value of cars commonly operated in our rural outlying areas of scotland is a fraction of the cost of EVs, far lower than urban locations, in the lower '000s rather than PCP or 5 figure sums, making a case for EVs being affordable and practical where cars are much older and lower value is not log...
