Progress at Ellon!

Postby Matt Beard » Sun Feb 25, 2018 3:02 pm

It seems that they have found a new way to get power to the rapid at Ellon Park & Ride that does not require help from Tesco.

Hopefully we will see it powered up before long!

Crivvens - begs the question why this wasn’t found months ago.... unless they’re biting the bullet and it’s costing considerably more?

Given the timing at the end of the financial year, I wonder if this is a high cost remedy.

Still furious with Tesco though. They will get a steady trickle of customers from the nearby rapid so should have played ball.

Just think... if Tesco had done what Lidl are doing and installed a rapid in their own car park I would have been using it as a regular stop on my way home from Aberdeen to charge and pick up shopping. I doubt I would be the only one doing this!

I’m sure you're correct - Tesco do not come out of this well, indeed their lack of support for EV’s in breathtaking. ASDA have dropped the ball a little, but at least their involvement since 2011 makes me more likely to shop with them than use any Tesvo store or service.

I have been criticising Tesco for years on speakEV, with regard to their lack of Electric Car support. I use Tesco regularly, I have a Tesco Clubcard and they still regularly send me vouchers for money of petrol. What I have been saying for years now is give Electric Car driving customers, an opt in option to not get petrol discount offers, and have that proportion put into a electric car charger fund. Seems simple and fair. Although they should just get their finger out regardless and get it sorted.

Lidl are not so good with the Scottish chargers though. Is the EcoTricity EH story really. And *if* Tesco ever got their act together, it is reasonable to think it would be English chargers they would provide.

Almost May and these points STILL don't have power. I hope my grandchildren live long enough to see these operational!
