Octopus Go EV tariff

Postby 10000Gauss » Wed Dec 19, 2018 12:37 am

I’ve just signed up to change to the Octopus Energy EV tariff (https://octopus.energy/go/)- it made sense to me because I charge every night and just over 2/3 of my electricity use is EV charging so the 5p/kWh rate should make a good saving. I have a Zappi charger so it should autosense the cheap tariff times I believe (does anyone have this feature operational?)

They run a referral scheme - £50 each for new customer and referring customer. I had a look on this forum to see whether anyone had posted anything but didn’t find any. My referral link is https://share.octopus.energy/melon-bison-297, but if anyone has a link they can provide please get in touch as I still have the facility to enter a referral link so we each get £50.

I was surprised to not find any posts about them - does anyone have any experience?

Don't know of them but heard of the name. Sounds like they are trying to rival Bulb with the £50 referral scheme?

So if your 5p a kWh, what time of evening does that rate start/finish?

And what is the standard day time rate if you know?

I have a Zappi also, but even with 10kW of PV, there are 3-4 months of the year where there is little or no benefit to be had from its smart diversion. Not complaining about it, I do like it a lot, and not much you can do about the seasons of course.

I've recently joined Octopus, but don't yet have a smart meter which is required for these time of use tariffs, and Octopus are not currently installing them due to a backlog:
